Slap da Buoy was inspired by Ryan Mohr, a surfer, sailor, dad, and adventurer who believed in living close to the edge of joy. Whenever we took our sailboat out of the harbor, Ryan would steer us just close enough to the channel marker buoy to lean over and “slap da buoy.” It made me nervous every time — and his mischievous grin made it unforgettable.
That moment became a metaphor.
Buoys mark safe passage. They light the way in the dark. They stay afloat through the roughest storms. And sometimes, all any of us needs is to reach out and touch something steady.
