Slap Da Buoy Paddle Out 3/25

To celebrate Ryan’s birthday and launch Slap da Buoy, our family will be hosting a paddle out on March 25th — a day to gather in the water, laugh, be a little ridiculous, and remember Ryan the way he lived: with adventure, humor, and heart.

Our favorite memories with Ryan include time on the water. Whether it was sailing on our boat or a simple kayak, every time we passed the channel marker buoy, Ryan would lean over the edge, stretch out his hand, and “slap da buoy.” It drove us crazy — but his mischievous grin made it unforgettable.

So we’re turning that moment into a tradition.

Participants will paddle, swim, or float out to the buoy and back in a lighthearted race to “Slap da Buoy.” Costumes are encouraged (the weirder the better), and extra points for creative watercraft. The goal isn’t speed — it’s laughter, connection, and a little ocean mischief.

The event will also serve as a fundraiser as we launch the Slap da Buoy brand. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to donate to local Hawaiʻi organizations supporting grieving children and mental health awareness.

If you can’t join us in Hawaiʻi, we invite you to create your own Slap da Buoy challenge wherever you are — paddle out, swim out, run out, find your buoy and slap it — then share your adventure by tagging @slapdabuoy.

Come celebrate Ryan with us the best way we know how:
in the water, a little wild, and surrounded by community.

Mark your paddle out by grabbing your Slap Da Buoy swag or join us in spirit by sending a donation to cheer us on!
